The BIG Pentagon Chapter of Blacks In Government® is one of fifty-four (54) Chapters in the Washington Metropolitan area (Region XI). In keeping with the tenets and philosophy of BIG nationally, our Chapter strives to advocate equality, excellence, and opportunity in the workplace; to provide training, information resources and services to enhance job skills; to assist in career development and upward mobility; to enhance ethnic pride through socio-cultural programs and to provide a forum for the workplace.

Our Goals

The BIG Pentagon Chapter functions as an employee support group, an advocacy group and resource group for Black Civil Servants at the federal, state and local level. The organization functions as a nonprofit, nonpartisan group. BIG’s goals are to:

Be an advocate of equal opportunity for Blacks In Government^®.
Eliminate practices of racism and racial discrimination against Blacks in government.
Promote professionalism among Blacks in government.
Provide a nonpartisan platform on major issues of local, regional and national significance that affects Blacks in government.
Develop and promote programs which will enhance ethnic pride and educational opportunities for Blacks in government.
Establish a mechanism for the gathering and dissemination of information of Blacks in government.
